Thoughts On Being Dressed, When Undressing

“…it is still to a woman’s advantage to give as much thought to undressing as she does to dressing.”

GENEVIEVE ANTOINE DARIAUX

We give so much effort and thought on our attire and general appearance when stepping out the door and yet do not give enough of the same to when we are in the comforts of our own homes. I often find that as soon as I arrive home from work or am under the assumption that I will no longer be leaving my house, I trudge up the stairs and slip into the comfiest of clothes – a pair of sweatpants or pyjama pants and a t-shirt (most likely something I claimed from my man’s wardrobe – he’s got so many, he probably doesn’t miss them, right?).

These ‘outfits’ aren’t the most well put-together and definitely not the most glamorous. I sometimes don’t even bother changing out of it in the morning, if I have no where in particular to be. While far too shameful to admit, I have grown accustomed to this habit. This is such a bad thing! With my intention to better myself and to further embrace my femininity, I have decided to be more deliberate in what I find myself lounging around in at home.

Even though according to Drake, “sweatpants, hair tied, chillin’ with no make-up on that’s when you’re the prettiest” and on rare, unexpected occasions, my man will claim something similar,  I think you will only truly feel pretty by slipping into something that at the same time is pleasing to the eye (yours) and comfortable (because what woman, ever, feels the prettiest with sweatpants on?). Not only will you feel like a woman and get to enjoy all the delicate-pretty things that only women get to enjoy, whoever gets to spend time with you in your ‘undressed’ mode gets to enjoy it too and hopefully they will appreciate it more by doing the same.

Maybe I’m just crazy and am the only one that does the sweatpants, t-shirt thing, while the rest of the world still practices civility in the art of dressing both  in and out of the home.

What do you wear at home?

Until next time,

P.S. – Lounging around in a periwinkle blue romper, originally from Forever 21 (from a while back). Not the best material (made of rayon), but it’s inexpensive and cute enough for a start in getting a hang on the art of being dressed, when undressing. Any recommendations on other cute things are welcome!

Great post! I totally agree that some of us can be slobs when we get home. And sometimes we end up running out the door with the same outfit; then we get featured on “People of Wal-Mart” which people profit off of haha I actually used to a daily calendar with graphic images of People of Wal-Mart that my previous boss bought me for Christmas one year. Anyways, I find I have been lounging around in shorts and tees quite often, although sometimes if I am not feeling too overly good about myself, I like to go slip into my silk robe! =) Love the periwinkle dress by the way! <3 looks great on you. Great way to get your man’s attention if he is not giving his full attention to you. =)

We really don’t want to become those ‘people of Wal-Mart’ LOL.
I’ve never seen this silk robe, sounds amazing. I’ve been wanting to get a fancy robe like that too.
